Angkor Wat, nestled in the heart of Cambodia, is undoubtedly one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the world. These ancient temple complexes bear witness to a rich history and cultural splendor dating back to the Khmer Empire in the 12th century.

What is the best time to visit?
The best time to visit Angkor Wat is during the dry season, from November to March. The weather is mild and pleasant, perfect for exploring the ruins without the heat and rain of the rainy season. Try to arrive as early as possible to avoid the crowds and experience the magical sunrise over Angkor Wat – an unforgettable experience.

Dress code and behavior
Respect the sanctity of the place by wearing appropriate clothing. Cover your shoulders and knees, especially when entering religious structures. It is also courteous to remove your shoes when entering temples.

Get a Guide
While Angkor Wat is impressive to explore on your own, a local guide can enhance the experience with knowledge of the history, mythology, and architectural details. There are many guides available on-site, or you can book a private guide in advance.

Use bicycles or Tuk-Tuks
Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples are spread over a large area. Renting a bicycle or a tuk-tuk is a popular way to explore the terrain. It offers flexibility and a unique way to discover the site, with stops at lesser-known temples and monuments.

Don’t forget to bring something to drink
It can get hot, especially during the summer months. Make sure to drink plenty of water and use sunscreen. There are several kiosks on the grounds where you can buy water and snacks, but it’s always handy to bring your own provisions.

We recommend you to explore the lesser-known temples
In addition to Angkor Wat, there are countless other temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park, such as Bayon, Ta Prohm, and Banteay Srei. Each of these temples has its own unique charm and history. Try not only to visit the main temple but also take the time to explore the lesser-known temples. This provides a deeper insight into the rich history and architectural diversity of the Khmer.
